Faith in the midst of suffering.
Hope in the face of death.
Love in the presence of enemies.
An historical WWII drama movie script about allied soldiers in a Japanese prison camp.
Based on a true story of Allied POWs who endure harsh treatment at the hands of their Japanese captors during World War II while being forced to build a railroad through the Burmese jungle.
When British soldier Ernest Gordon is captured by the imperial Japanese and placed in a prison camp in Burma, he soon learns that the prisoners have something far worse than lack of food; they have lack of hope.
When he discovers some books by Plato and Shakespeare as well as a Bible, he starts a “jungle university” to help the men regain their dignity in the face of barbaric treatment by their Japanese captors.
But those captors don’t like the idea of prisoners with hope.
